I have both versions of this song (this one is primarily written for guitar), so that tells you something (i.e., I really like this song, and wanted to make sure I didnt miss any instrumental sections (e.g., solos or interludes; sometimes the guitar music is more true to the original song, including solos), so I purchased both versions. Both versions appear to be 100% true to the recorded song, which is fairly simple; however, it is partly the wonderful simplicity of this song (also its moderately slow, steady tempo along with the moving, mourning lyrics) which makes it so powerful & captivating as a bittersweet anti-war hymn. "Give Peace A Chance" by John Lennon is another example of a contemporary anti-war song which is relatively simple, however its simplicity and repetitiveness work to make it captivating and inspiring (like a hymn or anthem), just like this song.
