Nessun Dorma

I ordered this selection in original key for a male I accompany. He felt it was a bit high so I re-ordered in a lower key which was fine. I have heard some very young singers , even very young sopranos sing this. In my opinion , they should not sing this dramatic aria written for a male. They should stick to other arias more suitable they also sang, "Musettas Waltz" from La Boheme & "O Mio Babbino Caro" from Gianni Schicchi. I have heard them sing Nessun Dorma & these numbers with very poor pronounciation of the lyrics in Italian. They should get coaching. Also they do not have the weight of voice even tho they use a microphone for volume. I hate this current trend of use of mikes. I was trained for opera & learned to sing above a symphony orchestra without mikes. Nowadays all the musicals use mikes. In my day. when I sang opera & musicals, we never had mikes. Only in The Hollywood Bowl which was outdoors did it require this ampiification & sometimes it was annoying when the sound system was adjusted by the technicians who didnt understand the performers interpretation of their singing.

What are you talking about? This IS written for a tenor, not a baritone! A baritone would never be able to negotiate the tessitura of the original key.
